Wellness Focused Farmers Market
Always Fresh,
Always Thursday

Mission
Our goal is to strengthen the long‑term health of the region and demonstrate how a farmer’s market can support community wellness in many ways.
Our vision includes expanding access to healthy, locally grown foods; supporting farmers who use sustainable practices; creating partnerships for wellness programs like screenings and prevention education; offering a welcoming space for connection among Medical Center employees, students, and local residents; and honoring the agricultural heritage of the land surrounding the Medical Center and College of Medicine.
Market Overview
The Farmer’s Market in Hershey began in 2009 after Danny George, Faculty Member, Penn State College of Medicine, and Wade Edris, Scientist in a College of Medicine research lab, recognized the opportunity to connect the region’s agricultural heritage with the Medical Center’s mission to support community wellness. With strong backing from Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the Hershey Trust, the Hershey Center for Applied Research, and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, the market officially opened on June 3, 2010.
Today, the market operates every Thursday on farmland once owned by Milton S. Hershey, offering a wide variety of locally produced foods and specialty items, most sourced within 25 miles. Visitors can also enjoy weekly wellness activities, including cooking classes, health screenings, educational programs, and local musical performances—all designed to celebrate and support our local agriculture heritage and community health.
Message from Market Director
Find fresh inspiration at the Farmer’s Market in Hershey, open Thursdays from 2:30–6:30 pm, May through October. Our farmers bring you locally grown, in‑season produce, picked at peak flavor for the freshest taste.
Explore the market, meet your favorite vendors, and ask questions about new fruits or vegetables you’d like to try. If something isn’t available, it’s likely not in season, and that seasonality is what makes local produce so exceptional.
Visiting the market is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, support local growers, and start healthy, seasonal eating.
We look forward to welcoming you this season.
Market Director, Tracy Brown
